Announcing – Cameroon Maths Camp 2019

Following the tremendous success of SAMI Maths Camps over the past few years elsewhere Africa, we are excited to announce the first Cameroon SAMI Camp, to be held in August 2019. It will be an English language non-residential camp at Pinnacle of Success Academy, Yaounde, from 19th to 23rd August 2019. The camp will be an opportunity for Cameroonian secondary school students of all academic abilities to be introduced to challenging mathematics in a fun and friendly environment.

Maths is the language of the universe and can offer elegant solutions to very complex problems which is why we believe improving mathematical literacy should be at the forefront of development efforts in Africa. Facilitated by a group of enthusiastic volunteers with diverse academic backgrounds, mathematicians and non-mathematicians alike, students at the Math Camp will explore a wide range of topics including programming, data analysis, mathematical modelling and maths in nature. Local teachers will play a key role at the camp and we hope that they will be introduced to new and exciting mathematical ideas that go beyond the curriculum and current teaching methods that they can take back with them to their classrooms.
